Visakhapatnam: Senior officer of Hindustan Shipyard Limited (HSL) Ganti Venkateswarlu on Friday assumed charge as Director (Shipbuilding).

He joined the shipyard as Additional General Manager in May 2018 and has since contributed immensely to the growth of HSL. He has worked in all three business units of the company, namely shipbuilding, submarine retrofitment and ship repairs. As Head of the Business Development Department, he played a key role in signing the biggest order for HSL—the construction of five Fleet Support Ships. His other notable achievements include the timely completion of normal refits for INS Sindhuvir, Astradharini, Sujata, Sutlej, and other ship repair projects. An alumnus of the prestigious Naval College of Engineering, Lonavla, and the Defence Services Staff College, Wellington, he has served on front-line warships of the Navy in addition to tenures in Naval dockyards. Prior to joining HSL, he held various important assignments in his career spanning over 25 years in the Indian Navy, both within the country and abroad. As Director (Shipbuilding), he is responsible for the execution of shipbuilding orders and will play a key role in driving HSL’s growth and innovation.
